Weak Play by Moroccan Chess Expert

Mokhliss El Adnani may know this Moroccan chess player who was in poor form during a 3 minute blitz game at ICC. NZCA, playing White, will lose after Black plays pawn to f4 creating Zugzwang. The Black Monarch will penetrate via the  c4 or a4 square winning White's anemic b pawn which will result in lost King and Pawn ending.

Observe that the blunder pawn to g4 allows the First Player  to draw as Black will have to move his King backwards to c6 with all entry points blocked!!

I guess the dude must dig the British synthpop band.

Despite the claims made by El Mahdi El Mhamdi, cutting off the power or electricity will shut down AI computers. His argument that us humans could learn from the distributed intelligence/decentralized nature of an ant colony is quite profound. Seems quite connected to bitcoin's inevitable surge upward as digital gold.

I also wish he would explain the overused term ROBUST with respect to information technology. Sound cool but WTF does it mean!?!?!?

Hope this Chess player Finds Peace and Tranquility

Gambling, Alcohol dependency and chess are more related than many would want to confess.

The profile of an outstanding bullet chess player(has played around 150,000 games according to his finger notes) named vladika01 from Japan was ominously suicidal on December 12th 2020.

1 min chess same as gambling

2: Time to leave ICC 2002-2020

3: All that can be said has been said and all good things must come to an end

4: Came here to play chess not to look for friends-but found some anyway

5: Forget me soon and take care ya all

6: Last words ...hmm, guard against those who want to distort history by

  changing it

I found references to a Bishop vladika a member of the Japanese Orthodox Church and the Enlightener.

As you can see in the diagrammed position, Vladika typed in the not so spiritually edifying FU. He was quite angry over losing the game after winning piece directly out of the opening and acquiescing to the long term positional disadvantage of a King trapped in the Center of the Board!

Usually the lines and arrow are used to for players to kibitz after the game has completed but the Japanese blitz addict preferred the initials to Fuck You. Also his  mental health would be improved by knowing that history is written by whoever wins the wars or currently in Control.

Back to the game and the White King stuck trepidating fearfully in the middle of the Back Rank.
So Vlad is still "up a piece" but down a King as you can see in the diagrammed position above. He spent time thinking that Qh4 "threatening" Qd8 checkmate was a game saver only to eventually note that Black's Queen at d3 surveils the mating square. So after the forced Qe1 to avoid mate, the Japanese lover of the Royal game could tip over his King after Black SNAPS OFF THE f3 Knight.   3 minute chess is too slow for him in my opinion. Find peace somehow my brotha.

Thomas Turtle: Bullet Chess Addict

One Thomas Turtle has an extreme fondness for 1 minute bullet/blitz chess. As you can see from his finger notes, he has played close to 130,000 lightning chess games at the internet chess club.

His passive play, as seen in the diagrammed position, gives him close to a lost position a mere 7 moves into the game! He placed his Horse on the e8 square and them played h6 with the Black pieces. This happened in a 3 minute game which I doubt he meant to play. I mean 3 minutes is an eternity for a bullet chess addict.

It became obvious TommyTurtle played this sequence of insipid and thoughtless moves just to keep from losing before his 60 seconds of precious time expired!

He obviously loves the Royal game and hates whining name calling players who are bad sports when they lose to the turtle in blitz chess. The friend of Sally Acorn in the city of Mobotropolis is a very weak player, but a good guy who just wants play without all the unnecessary drama.

Exchange Sacrifice for Weak Pawns

You all remember those material point tables published by the German Bernhard Horwitz who claimed a Queen was worth 9 pawns, a Rook 5, Bishop or Horse worth 3

This dude who plays on the internet named Blackdata believes these values are absolute indicating he never has read Rowson.

So when I play this cat, he always lets me take off his Horse with my Tower as you can see in the following diagram(Notice the f3 Knight has been snapped off by the f8 Rook shattering his Kingside pawn structure). I thought he might be a computer programmer or a bitcoin miner or a data scientist, but probably not since those type of professionals always learn from their mistakes.
Blackdata does not get the quality and coordination aspect of a chess position. In the above position, he thinks he is winning because his pieces add up to 16 pawns and Black's pieces add up to 14 pawns according to the German MoFo who formed the infamous group "The Pleiades"

I am sure the Chess Improver  Valer Eugen Demian and his copyrighted content could talk about the weak squares around the White Monarch along with weak pawns as being more than adequate compensation for the exchange sacrifice. Black has an enduring initiative despite having "lost the exchange".

Demian  will quickly learn that a standard Blog is no match for Streaming Twitch content or YouTube. Daniel Naroditsky does not give the USCF the time of day after becoming a Twitch ad revenue animal. I sure as hell do not blame him, although I miss his outstanding column in Chess Life.

In closing Blackdata, like many lovers of the game suffers immensely from materialism and should realize chess would not be much of game if one could just do a Horwitz count of material to determine who stood better in an arbitrary position.

You are boycotting this Toilet Paper Company for WHAT REASON?!

I thought of that cute guy Russ Larrivee who apparently was contemplating boycotting toilet paper company Cottonelle because of its 5 ply product that may appeal to bottom gay guys. Russ may have some not so fond memories of high school showers in gym class. Perhaps he is repressing latent attractions for a guy that was going through puberty and still has some fantasies?

It it nothing to be ashamed of Russ. Go with what is natural.

The following chess position came up in a game with a player named FivePlyGuy who probably just likes thick toilet paper to help keep the feces from getting under his fingernails(Good Hygiene Friends!!). White wins with the pawn rupturing move b5 where the d5 pawn falls and the White Monarch penetrates like the guy on top of the homosexual who also likes thick toilet paper for a completely different reason.

@cottonelle

, you’re selling toilet paper why do you have to inject homosexuals into your commercials. It’s disgusting. Sell your products to homosexuals but I’m not buying them because being gay is a sin against God! #BoycottCottonelle

Cattle Feed as it Relates to our Royal Game

I can only speculate as to why the former 1998 Nashville, Tennessee city champion chose the name Cornfed for his ICC moniker. I am guessing either his alcohol consumption choice or the cattle he raises has something to do with it! I think I may have played a postal game with him around the time of the Y2K programming run up when planes were supposed to drop from the sky and interest rate calculations were gonna get all F....cked up.

So White just played Qe6 threatening Queen captures e5 Bishop with check. It is not mate since anemic looking f6 square is protected by h4 Queen and f8 Rook. So Black has the time to look for mating patterns himself. Not too hard to notice that Qh2 is curtains for the first player after Ne2 check.

I also dropped out of correspondence chess after cheating with computers became intractable. BTW grass fed cattle have about 20% less fat than Corn Fed livestock.

Eloping Female Chess Player Reference

The made for movies drama involving an American International Master and a Russian female who was using him to get to the USA popped into my mind after this sacrifice the farm game of chess played at the Internet Chess Club. The Russian female later divorced IM Donaldson and married another edgy, easy to irritate  chess player named Orlov who loves to move his Horses before his pawns in the opening. The dude also loved to Tango!!

Black is already down a piece in the diagrammed position and it is not really clear who is attacking whom in a position where many commentators would just bale with  "chances for both sides". However there is a concrete continuation based on the violent tactical theme of diagonal clearance. The Nd4 is a forcing continuation due to the fork of the Queen and King and the move also threatens the eviscerating Ba4 CHECK!

John wrote some nice annotations where he suffered through a sacrifice the house attack at the hands of the Lexington Lion GM Gregory Kaidanov.  The former employee of Yasser Seirawan also wrote a nice opening tome on the Meran Defense. IM Donaldson is  a good teacher also.

Letting ones time expire Versus resigning like a Gentleman

A Canadian chess player with the handle PleaseBlunder, understandably, let his time expire in the following position from a 3 minute blitz game at the Internet Chess Club. The guy probably does not know that Tic Tac Toe is a theoretical draw, but still devotes excessive time to our Royal Game without any discernible improvement in his level of play.

His e2 Knight is pinned to f2 King with Black Knight capturing weak d4 pawn threatened. Back also has unstoppable passed pawns on Queenside so Black's domination of a very weak player is manifest.

Tryfon Gavriel writes about dealing with bad sportsmanship OTB and online. Does anyone know why Victoria Fryer promotes B2B business platforms on chess blogs and at Quora? Incidentally Pat Wolff wrote about the thorny ethical questions of letting an opponent's time tick off rather than alerting them. I believe it actually transpired in one of his games against GM Dzindzichashvili. Pat was smart enough to transfer his genius from chess to finance.

The only ethical standard in BLITZ CHESS is the CLOCK

Norwegian player DTHG  lost this 3 minute blitz game at ICC by exactly 0.1 seconds. Yes, chess fans, he lost by one tenth of second in a contest which is a dead draw in longer time controls.

As you can see from the score sheet in the diagram below, White shuttled his King back and forth around the passed a4 pawn while avoiding three fold repetition of the position and exploiting the fact the beleaguered jugadore did not have enough time on his clock to claim the obvious draw.

White had enjoyed an overwhelming initiative in the middle only let the blitz addict from Norway back in the game, so the method of victory was completely justified. In blitz, the only morality is the clock!! Fascinating that clock and COCK rhyme don't you think?! To hell with all you whiners who offer draws when you only have 5 seconds and your opponent over a minute. YOU LOSE because of your time mismanagement and clumsy lack of coordination with mouse slips.

Note that  Benu Varghese seems to agree that etiquette has no place in online bullet chess where time expiration is the sole determinant of who wins the cerebral struggle.

Horrible Bishop Queen Battery in This Chess Game

Italian Chess player BlackFlash is a weak player at the Internet Chess Club. I gather he must be a poor man as well based on his finger notes which you can reference below. Italy was the world's first hot spot with respect to the novel Corona Virus.

Black Flash went for checkmate straight out of the opening which is also indicative of a FISH. The American player punished the unjustified aggression as the below diagram illustrates. Note the extreme impotence of the d6 Queen and c7 Bishop battery attacking its own pawn at e5. There could not be a worse example of piece coordination Dan Heisman.

The Italian had to resort to desperation by "attacking on the kingside" which further weakened squares around his increasingly exposed Monarch. White played f4 owing to the hanging Rook at e8 All tactical sequences originate from hanging pieces according to tacticians extraordinaire Shabalov, M. Gurevich, D. Gurevich, Yermo, the late Emory Tate,  the curly headed Mexican GM Alejandro Ramirez(UT Dallas), Chuck Charles Diebert, Detroit's Pete Nixon, Shirov, Derek Edmonds, Nathaniel Edmonds, Gary Edmondson,  , Roderick W. Brown(Virginia Rocks!), Rohan Brown(Seminoles of Florida), Garrett Browning(Tarhills!)

Shortest Possible Mate allowed by Ostensibly Sober Chess Player

A gentleman, who uses the handle Draconian at the Internet Chess Club, allowed the shortest possible checkmate with the moves 1. g4 e5 2. f4 Qh4 MATE  in a 3 minute Blitz game.

History people know that Draco was a harsh ruler and lawmaker, but it was this online blitz player with the high rating who was roughed up pretty bad taking it straight up the poop shoot after playing Henry Grob's horrible looking opening. San Antonio player Psychiatrist John Patty lost to it once at tournament in a Hospital I think. He then needed a shrink, whining and crying how should have punished the guy who had the nerve to play it against a master who had crashed hard into his 2200 floor. Do not think this is the same PHD who puts out his shingle in Oakland, California.

Erik Kislik shares this writers perception that the Grob Opening sucks a big long one, but stories abound of weekend warriors playing 1. g4   or 1. ... g5 with Black and kicking some ass!

Also T. Gavriel, who loves the word vacuous, faced a strong exponent of 1 g4 but I did not get to see the whole game because of getting swamped by YouTube Ads. It's all good because Kingcrusher has a super sexy voice!

Making Outside passed Pawn a Blunder in this Blitz Game

Was reminded of John Watson's excoriation of  rule dependence when when Chisel playing out of the United Kingdom played a3 believing his outside passed pawn would win. However Black's counter shot c3 forces resignation.

White might catch up to the Black queenside pawns, but the Black King at e5 would rush to ingest white's defenseless peons at h3 and g3.

YouTube superstars MatoJelic and ChessFactor both seem to advocate unconditionally that outside passed rook pawns win in all variations. Maybe I was just more drunk than usual that night when viewing those videos cuz Nicky Pert does not make many mistakes when pontificating about the Royal Game!

"Universal" English Opening Setup EASY to equalize against

I have a faint lack of respect for handlers of the White pieces who opt for safe play just hoping and praying, Nigel Short, that they can capitalize on a blunder by the second player.

A jugadore from the United Kingdom named OliverTheEighth has exactly this mealy mouthed approach in the following position. He traded off his Queen's Bishop for unknown reasons losing the "mini exchange" advocated by JEW HATER Robert Fischer who died on the the 64th square of the chess board still owing the USA a lot of unpaid income tax.

Oliver then arranged a rigid pawn structure and wasted tons of time getting his Horse to the d5 square which allows Black to reroute his c6 Knight to the Kingside while preparing c6 to drive away the Stead without a stable.

Black won easily as his fianchettoed g7 Bishop landed on the g1-a7 diagonal pinning an impotent Rook at f2.

A weak commentator at chess.com extols the "solid and flexible" Botvinnik structure without addressing how the Dutch Defense refutes it in the sense that 1.c4 f5  equalizes NUF SAID! Even weaker player and "chess entertainer" Nate Hill blindly plays the English afraid to play wide open tactically based openings.

Interesting points regarding the real King Oliver:

Puritan tenant adherents wanted people to spend Xmas thinking and concentrating on the life of Jesus Christ, rather than celebrating. Monthly fast days were also introduced to encourage people to focus on God our Savior.  This much the reason many people in the States HATE the over commercialization of the birth of baby JESUS!

If you were caught playing sport on a Sunday, you could be whipped OR harshly punished

Swearing was punishable by a fine, or a stint in prison GOD DAMIT

Prayer as it relates to Chess

I know Brit Nigel Short, in an unprovoked fashion, made fun of Wesley So for praying before an important chess game. As bright as the sadistic King March dude is, he seemed to erroneously assume that the Philippine superstar was praying for victory.

Was reminded of this when I played a buffoon who goes by NeedGodCom at ICC. The hopeless position you see below, arising from the Rubenstein French Defense, was when the Jesus Freak spent 50 seconds in a 3 minute blitz game!

White's Queen is pathetically out of play and his King is about to be gang raped and the preacher kept on thinking or beseeching a higher power to help him out of this suicidal position.

I asked the guy after the game if he was praying during his irrationally long think in rapid chess. The resign button would have been the Christian thing to do don't you think Nigel? I don't think believers in a benevolent God are “superstitious,” “narrow-minded idiots,” but I do think they are cowards who don't realize we are just an animal with an overdeveloped brain who will likely suffer and die with no hope for an afterlife. We have teeth that are good at helping us eat dead animals.  Frat boys prefer anal sex like many other animals that grace this planet. We poop and piss very close to where our offspring pop out.  Sorry GOD does fit in to this scenario GM So.

When Promoting a Pawn to a HORSE just gots to be Done

Drechsler said he was taking into account Trooper Gary Sacco's friendly comportment regarding assailant's emotional duress and instability.

So what has this got to do with chess in Massachusetts?  Officer Sacco did what most people would do when a pawn reaches the eighth rank. He promoted to the Lady you see on the d1 square in the diagrammed position with her target the mating f1 square!

Garry probably has the blitzen program setup to automatically promote to a Queen(I know Detroit musician and tournament organizer,Tiger Fan Pete Nixon does), BUT THE underpromotion to a Knight must be around a checkmate in TWO!!  Like old Vic Kortchnoi said, " chessboard is NOT BIG ENOUGHT FOR TWO QUEENS"  So two bitches could only draw against a single bitch(female poker playing twitching Philadelphia girl according to Kraai not available for comment)

Thanks for everything you do for the community of Danvers SIR and we are glad you have the Royal Game as a pastime to blow off the stress and steam you experience serving and protecting our citizens!!!!

Make Luft NOT War

The following position was reached against one FranticGopher in a blitz game at the internet chess club. Canadian Frantic Gopher is aptly named as his play is indeed and frenetic bordering on actually being sound. The chess player with the hummingbird metabolism has been spotted in Minnesota USA I think as well.

You can not help but like the guy who wins via quality or pre-moving in the opening not caring whether he drops pieces just to rattle his opponents!  He is losing in all his bullet games, but still wins the majority of them. Admirably he is a staunch opponent of the knuckleheads who expect takebacks in Blitz chess. Some of those malcontents actually will let their time expire, rather than resign, if you do not grant the takeback!!  Pathetic existences they live.

In the diagrammed position Frantic Gopher is also losing AND WENT ON TO LOSE as White played the appropriate make Luft (German for air) move h3.  The weaker g3 allows the desperate varmint a possible perpetual check on the light squares!

You must admit burrowing rodents of the family Geomyidae are quite cute.

How to handle hyper patient White buildups against the French Rubenstein defense?

Austrian chess player obt(apparently this stands for obituary which places him in the company of the infamous attacking ICC player Widowmaker), playing blitz at the Internet Chess Club, was in a prophylactic mood when he played the square weakening f3 pawn move with the White pieces. The square he fatally weakened was the e3 square.

It was his reaction to a tepid system advocated by Rubenstein in the French Defense. The move f3, ostensibly, blunts Black slowly developed fianchettoed Bishop at b7. The move is a lemon as it denies the White Horse the natural and superior f3 square. Obt's plan was to place his horse on e4 hoping that Black would cooperate by capturing leaving White with the sought after pawn duo d4,e4.

Author Hannes Langrock writes about this "solid defense"  to 1. e4, but his book does not address the very slow buildups that the first player has against this Black defense that cedes pawn control in the center.  So Ich habe eine frage. What does Black do about the almost Zugzwang positions that occur when White plays ultra patiently? Thank you in advance for your well informed and erudite response. Auf wiedersehen!

LOL Chess Queen surrounded in Middle of Board!

Chess players are a cross between NERD and comedian as evidenced by the following Laugh Out Loud position where White managed to trap his Lady on a central square with PLENTY of pieces and pawns left on the board!!

Take a look for yourself, 7 of the eight escape squares for the entombed White Queen at d4 are occupied  by pawns or pieces. Black quickly reacted, in this ICC blitz game, with Bh6 threatening the sensitive black e3 square which was supported by the Black c4 Knight!!.

ICC member Alga failed to notice that Nf2 blocking the prelate check, was the only non losing move. The position resembles an Epaulette Mate Motif, but it is the Queen that is getting suffocated in this case. Some women enjoy being partially suffocated during certain sexual acts with Black professional athletes. Some will remember the alleged Kobe Bryant rape of desirous white girl where she wanted to be mildly choked while being bent over the hotel table in Eagle Colorado USA.

Quora content writer Abhijit Mohapatra would certainly be amused at this threatened trapped Queen tactical theme.

Set Busy 2 To Quash Rude online Chess players

Dear  Roman Martinez de Aragon, Madrid Spain,

A simple response to your concerns regarding the rude, loutish, immature manners of many ICC blitz players is DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY. It is a relatively small percentage of an otherwise very civilized group of Cassia devotees.

I know Marty Grund and he has done everything possible to deescalate the level of extreme incivility that exists at the internet chess club. A benefactor of the game we love is Joseph Ocol who advocates ignoring the malcontents who are in many cases 50 year old men who were picked on in high school or never really made their mark in life with multiple failed marriages.  USCF can deal with these pricks in face to fact tournaments, but online chess much more difficult to manage the startling abruptness of bitter old men who never matured passed adolescence. Patent lawyer Charles Slade has written incisively about the the rising prevalence of obnoxious and offensive acts concluding that ignoring them HURTS THEM THE MOST. The baby boys want attention. Just do not give it to them!!

I do hope my abogado amigo does not choose to terminate his ICC membership. Report the jerks and they will lose their chatting privileges with possible suspension of their accounts. I don't think Grund wants to do that since he would probably have to refund the ill-mannered punk's membership cost pro-rated.  I generally wish my opponents a good game to try to induce a friendly atmosphere in long games, but blitz and bullet bring out the worst behavior.

Much love to you Karlo Mi compadre!!!

Another Defenseless Stonewall Dutch Formation

Superboy playing out of the country Denmark loves playing the Stonewall Dutch and I equally love showing him how positionally bankrupt his opening choice is!

This particular Dutch Defense is characterized by voluntarily weakening all the dark squares and then allowing White to trade off the dark square guardian, the f8 Bishop! So Black is irrationally putting all his faith on the rigid c6,d5,e6,f5 pawn structure which leaves White with the juicy and unassailable e5 and d6 dark squares as outposts.

In the diagrammed position, Whites positional hegemony is manifest(one of Stu Rachels favorite words even though as a philosopher he uses very common language in his school classes, almost afraid of using the SAT exam type of vocabulary)

White can win with the pawn avalanche beginning with the tactically supported h5. Note that if the anemic bad bishop at e8 captures, then the knight fork Nd7 picks up the impotent Castle(Rook)

I doubt that even Krishna Prem really believes the Stonewall is a viable opening. Krishna has invested quite a bit of time in producing monetized YouTube videos advocating the Stonewall Dutch and could lose ad revenue if it was widely known it had been refuted!

Max Dlugy knew long ago that Nh3 refutes the entire setup CRUSHING D. Gurevich forcing the aloof GM to switch to the Slav Defense which his best friend Yermolinsky had long suggested.

Inventive Approach in this Chess Game

An ICC blitz player named ReInventor, playing Black in the below diagrammed position, had to love the inventive nature of this Naked hanging piece sacrifice. His greed for pawns weakened his f7,e6, and b7 White Squares. Also his Horse at b8 blocks the Rook at a8.

Applying Laskerian logic to the three anemic squares, the NAKED piece sac Ng5 presents itself as a winning move! The Knight move attracts the Black Queen to the g5 square which also creates devastating back rank mate threats after the White Lady ingests the b7 pawn.

Read the work of medical researchers V. Kalidasan, Narcisse Joseph, Suresh Kumar, Rukman Awang Hamat, and Vasantha Kumari Neela to learn more about iron deficiency as it relates to our Royal game. I learned all about Iron homeostasis from these medical students or interns or maybe even Doctors. In any invent the move Knight to King's Knight 5 jacked Black's efforts at homeostasis.

The game Dexter Dale Jr. vs. Ryan Folgarty had some themes similar to this game.

The tricky notion of opposition in Chess

In following King and Pawn ending, Black has an extra pawn with White to move. If the opposing Kings have 1 or 3 or 5 squares between on a file, rank, or diagonal then side that just moved is said to have the opposition. Weaker chess players sometimes believe having the opposition is tantamount to winning the chess game.

The following diagram harshly refutes that ignorance. Observe that if White plays King to the f1 square,  he has the opposition with Black King places at d1.

Now take a look at the following diagram that arose from 1. Kf1 Kd2  2. Kf2 where one observes that White still has the close opposition, BUT is losing after Pawn to g4! jettisoning the Black center pawn to its Queening square at e1!  Its clear that this kind of close opposition SUCKS! Note that the e pawn checks the White Monarch in this variant which is a vital tempo allowing Queening well before White's g pawn.

Enter our Lord and savior DISTANT OPPOSITION  with the move Kh1 in the corner 3 squares from Black King! Now if Black plays Ke1, White plays Kg1 where g4 tactic does not work and the game is drawn after a variation involving mutual queening!  Close opposition was correct here only because of concrete analysis not some blind adherence the 4 syllable O word. Orgasm has three syllables you perverts.

Understanding when to implement distant opposition will save you many half points!!!

Also be careful about adhering blindly to geometric motifs like “Putting your King on a square which constructs a rectangle with the other King where the corners of the rectangle are the same colored square (such as a dark square), with the usual "let the buyer beware" of no pawns interfering/between the Kings"

If I have been too sexual for you or your K-6 child, try the high quality blog at RagChess. The proprietor is careful about not disclosing his name, but seems to be an excellent and knowledgeable educator of the Royal Game.

Two different Assassinations

Chess is the Netherlands is more historically rich and dense compared to almost pop culture blitz ethos that exists in the USA. The former Santa Fe NM Grand Master would surely agree given his recent public squabbles with Greg Shahade.

The theme illustrated in the diagram below witnesses yet another example of greed being harshly punished.  Thetheo1304 is "up the exchange and a pawn", BUT is still dead lost. So one could say he was suffering from excessive emphasis on his distorted notion of material. Yaz, the cool dude and blood brother of IM John Donaldson, once stated his first chess teacher Pupols taught it is not what comes off the board, it is what stays  on the board.

This ICC member appears to have dearly loved Theodore Van Gogh who was assassinated by a Dutch man from Morocco,Africa.  Never got the significance of 1304 in his online moniker.

Perhaps the death was still weighing on his distant mind when his materialism allowed Black's g pawn to become dangerously passed. Maybe he thought Rook takes pawn check on the d5 square would give him time to prevent the promotion to Queen. A draw may have been held by moving the King towards the Queening Square rather continuing with the pawn grabbing avarice.

Greed, Greed, Greed.....Lose, Lose, Lose

One of the seven deadly sins is Greed and chess psychologist Rowson expounds lucidly on the perils of not overcoming avarice in our beloved Royal Game pastime.

However, ICC user Missile14 apparently did not get the memo after getting splattered by the mating pawn move f6 in diagrammed position. The military jet fighter plane enthusiast was aiming for rapid consolidation with Nd6 with the goal of liquidating the powerful e4 Horse. In fact, Missile14 played Knight captures Knight after White played the overt checkmate move pawn to f6 pinning the g7 mating square pawn to the trepidating Black Monarch!

Black could have played the desperate  Nf5 which only delays the mate or the calamitous loss of material. I think our military man was just assuming since he had an extra "do nothing" proverbial WHOLE ROOK on a8 square(not half mind you) that he would just win by swapping aka the Patzer's curse.

I did find something about the Infrared Air Force FALCON homing missile14.

BTW, a cat with a youtube channel called chess traps has a beautiful trap number 28 out of the Kings Gambit opening involving a knight on the grim rim and another fork winning Whites Queen!!!

Rules of Chess need to be modified to remove this absurd Possibility

I found the following rubbish of an explanation at Reddit of why an absolutely pinned piece can still support checkmate:

The simplest and most natural set of rules would be to forget all about check and checkmate. You're just out to capture(the problem with this lame justification is that the g7 Queen DID NOT CAPTURE THE BLACK KING AT H7) the enemy King, and the game ends when you do so, even if it's just because someone didn't notice they were in check. And under this rule it's very clear that you can capture the King with a pinned piece, because the game will be over before they can take your King in response.

BTW absolutely pinned means pinned to the King like the g4 Rook is to the White King on the f3 square(The Black Bishop is performing the sadistic task) SO KING CAPTURES QUEEN SHOULD BE A LEGAL MOVE IN THE DIAGRAMMED POSITION!!!!!!! The simple reason is that the pinned Tower cannot capture  the Black Monarch!!! Who in the fuck wrote the rules of chess to allow such nonsense to prevail!!!??????

Even the venerable Martin Stahl(dealt admirably with the devastating Joplin Missouri Tornadoes) believes the checkmate in the diagrammed position is a logical interpretation of the rules of our beloved game. I know Erickenn1 of the internet chess club would not want the rule overturned.

Discovered Check Mate

Austrian chess player Wall-Street probably spends more time investing than with his chess development, but he  still threatens mate in one in the diagrammed position in a 3 minute blitz no delay game at the internet chess club based in USA.  Patrick Wolff and Ron Henley traded their GM brains in to become whizzes in financial industry. Wolff used to advertise in Seirawan's mag charging $100 to analyze a black and white game. He quickly realized he could leverage his time 100 fold managing derivative funds. Makes you wonder how many other chess super cerebral types waste all that brain power!! Not sure about Henley who use to be tight with Karpov. Never knew how he wheedled his way into being the boa constrictor's second in some of the world championship cycles.

Markus Ragger would have been impressed with the mate in 2 that Black has set up which culminates with a discovered checkmate along the h file.White had just played Nc5 threatening mate on the b7 square, but Ng3(blunt force trauma hammer blow to the 1398 player from Austria) check is quite forcing as g1-a7 diagonal is covered by the Lady on d4

Ego Deflating Opening Ambush

It has happened to us all. Checkmated or grievous loss of material not 10 moves into the contest!  Screwed-blued-and-tattooed, Ambushed, gang-raped, torched, epic fail etc.

Such was the fate of online chess player ego123 one Saturday morning hiding from the deadly virus. Now for the boring part: The opening was a French Exchange variation in reverse which can be quite dangerous for Black according to Watson's book.

How did such a strong player allow a longer version of the Scholar's mate on h7 square? Carlsen himself has played the slightly more refined version called the Terrorist opening pioneered by Enrique Rios(last I heard this San Antonio homie was cashing in with Poker)

The very slow Ne7-Ng6 maneuver led to a hanging Knight due f7 pawn being pinned by the c4 Prelate(Phallic). Also 3 minute time control is often fast non-thinking chess that can lead to these kind of disasters. Alex Kundin presents an exceptionally entertaining version of this!

Geneticist taking a break with some Online Chess

I could not help but reflect on the controversial work of a China Man geneticist named Dr. He Jiankui after beating somebody named Gene Doctor at ICC.  Not sure if the guy I beat is actually a doctor or just a big fan of the movie, but White actually wins after Black promotes his g2 pawn to a Queen if Black is careless where he places his Monarch after Nd7 check. Just a fascinating position!!! Note that Nd7 is a discovered check which also supports the Queening f8 square!!

The Guangdong doctor tried to modify genes to make the FrankenBabies immune to AIDS. The Chinese recognize this a illegal. No surprise this doctor wanted to become a proxy God after hanging out with the radical liberals in Berkeley California!!

Blockading with Queen is quite Alright!!

I still vividly remember the clamoring middle aged gentleman speaking defiantly that a Queen is NOT A GOOD BLOCKADER while shopping at a Goichberg book store in Las Vegas(Bill Hook can verify). USA chess player Augusta must have known this loud mouth because he refused to play Qd6 blocking the advance, and discovered check, of White's d5 pawn.

Even International Master Arthur van de Oudeweetering seems to occasionally spread this dogma. Denis Khismatullin, a strong player, also seems to believe that not to blockade with the Lady is an absolute truth.

I think both of these chess talents know there are concrete cases where Queen Blockading is a tactical necessity, BUT they still need to be careful about the language they use when teaching chess or annotating their games!!

Queen to d6 is the best move in the diagrammed position for the reason that White does not have any Horses left on the board!! Black is even a little better after the CORRECT BITCH BLOCKADING MOVE.

An invasive Steed Saves the Day

I figured out why the guy my YouTube account defaults to is so damn popular:
  1. He does not babble on while playing out the opening moves like some chess commentators do who pretend to know what the best move is.
  2. The dude has the most tranquilizing, soothing voice I have heard.
  3. He provides just a dollop of history as he quickly gets to the critical positions of the chess masterpieces he presents
I wonder what Antonio Radic would think about the following position where Black is down the  exchange with an exposed and apparently vulnerable King. Czech Republic jugadore Nadateho must have believed the game was his after playing the instinctive Qd6 check.

However, it is White who has to be careful and could easily lose with a careless misstep after Black moves his Monarch to the "safe square" h5. A key feature of the position is White's inactive f1 Rook viz a viz Black's hyperactive Horse! White's error was to ingest Black pawns at the expense of not activating his his f1 Rook. Rowson would certainly scold White for not having intimate cozy conversation with his phlegmatic Tower. White also unnecessarily weakened the f3 square providing a simple goal for the Black Knight. White can draw but has to acquiesce to a perpetual check which is hard to do psychologically when you had been winning the entire game.

Kuwait Player goes for too much out of Opening

Being patient enough to wait for the latent potential of King's Indian Bishop to be liberated was one of the favorite ideas of New Mexico chess talent Silas Perry. I had the pleasure of meeting Silas in Albuquerque during a National Guard deployment around a decade ago.

Like many eccentric chess players, he has resisted attempts at communication, but that is OK since he helped me gain over 200 USCF rating points without knowing it! I did not want to admit it due to my extremely competitive spirit, but the four or five games I lost to the dude forced me to  retool my game!!

He and GM Kraai highly advocate taking paper notes in a real notebook and analyzing why one sometimes makes stupid moves at critical times in the game.

One of Perry's favorite sayings was this guy should not be able to get away with "this attack". He won a game against Amarillo Master Simms when he felt the Texan had overreached. The game you see above where Kuwait player unexpected launched a suspicious attack reminded me of the sage advice of Silas.

White's b2 Bishop is just oozing some latent potential  as the second player's "attack" has created an uncountable number of weak squares around his Monarch. This is sometimes OK in the Dutch Defense but not in this case as White mopped the mess up quite handily with an Ne1-Nd3 repositioning of his f3 horse which was being attacked by overextended g4 pawn

I know why you let me go

Rowland Roderick plays chess online and is one evocative musician. The title of one of his songs, Television is all I need, is patently false. I think Rowland also needs chess whether he is willing to admit it or not.😼 Also his non lyrical piece Soft Snowfall is tranquilizing and good for what ails me!

I hope he does not mind me disclosing his handle velvetfog ,if for no other reason, to find a path to his wonderful music via the link in his finger notes which also reveal the gentle philosopher in his core!

Chess Netiquette

Scotland chess player pantsaretrapped let his time expire in this totally hopeless lost position arising in a blitz game at ICC. Gentlemen resign rather than doing this. Maybe he is upset that countryman and pugilist  Conner Macgregor is retiring too early?

The Scot did not disconnect and forfeit, as many angry defeated players do, he merely patiently waited for his time to run out.

KingsEnemy from Chicago writes at length about etiquette and cheating among chess players. Jerry Nash, performs the more noble task, of being sure K-5 kids and students learn how to be good sports at an early age. He induces proper behavior by awarding merit badges, to borrow from Boy Scout custom, at an age where tiny circular pieces of fabric still have moral value.

Ben Finegold was involved in some alleged breech of etiquette which he handled like the lover of the game he is! East Side Christian School Chess Club has clearly posted guidelines and rules on what constitutes excellent sportsmanship over the board and ONLINE!

Influence of Book Reviews on Book Sales

I was overjoyed to learn that John Watson has secured stable employment with the United States Chess Federation. The French Defense advocate in a great writer and commentator regarding chess history and theory, recently espousing the profound work of GM Davorin Kuljasevic which seeks to eradicate the materialism malady which afflicts weaker club players.

Also his full time position with the USCF should provide much needed health care benefits. I recall long ago John being ill and seeking contributions from other chess players to defray exorbitantly high health care costs. This was around a decade ago and medical care is even more through the roof nowadays!!

Watson got "beyond material" in his Advances since Nimzovitch magnum opus, so his review/assessment of Kuljasevic's new work should help sell many copies for the Croatian writing talent.  I wonder if it is possible to track John's influence on the gross proceeds for the much awaited book?

Outpost Creation as it Relates to pawn structure

It has been awhile, but I seem to remember Icelandic chess talent Agust Karlsson giving a lecture at Exeter Chess Club on the topic of establishing strong outposts for Knights in particular. One of the more secretive United Kingdom club members defined an outpost to be any fourth, fifth, sixth, or seventh rank square that could not be attacked by enemy pawn.

In the following position, Egypt player player mary-wagih19, had played in a desultory(A Bisquier favorite term, he even told me once word originated from acrobat during a delay between rounds at a Goichberg tournament at Casino in Las Vegas) sequence of opening moves leaving his Queen side pieces uncoordinated with no hope of rapid development(a very difficult concept to define according to IM John Watson and GM Rowson)

So would you take the Queen on c5 with Rook or Pawn? The answer is easy if you think in terms of outpost creation! Any decision in chess has an attendant price which in this case would be a weakened Black pawn structure with the compensation being outposts at b6 and d6 squares. This harmonizes with Horse hopping to c4 to occupy either dark square.

The stockfish software "believes" the pawn recapture is correct and I doubt children's chess teacher Amanda Mateer would disagree!

Back Rank Clearance Tactical Motif

Not sure if back rank clearance is common parlance, but perhaps a glance at the diagrammed position will define it by picture.

It is well known that hanging (en prise pieces) are the origin of any tactical sequence. Combine that with King safety and it is not difficult to see why Bishop to the g4 square initiates the fireworks against knightjouster5 during a blitz game at the internet chess club. BTW GM Jesse Kraai believes online chess along with the COVID-19 might irreversibly damage the long time control aspect of our beloved Royal Game. He and Greg Shahade are extreme adversaries in the short versus long time control paradigm shift!! Kraai's pithy and incisive column in Chess Life should win multiple awards!

Back to the diagram. White's hanging Queen at c2 and rook at a1 fully justify the "hanging attack" Bg4. Work through the variations. IT IS STUNNING!!

I am certain Saint Louis chess club commentator Jonathan Schrantz would include this in one of his instructional videos.

Fascinating Conversion to Winning KP ending an Exchange Down!!

ICC player eternalwarrior blundered in below diagram by moving his Rook to c7 rather than c8. His logic was impeccable wanting to protect d7 pawn, but there was a tactical oversight in his reasoning.

Can you see the flaw in his reasoning based on Black's King location and the harmonizing/coordination of the g5 Knight an the e6 pawn?
After pawn to e7 there are two Knight Forks that lead to a won King and Pawn ending where the White King ends up at the dominating d5 square and Black possessing a weak isolated passed d pawn still stuck on its original d7 square!!! One of the variants actually forces the Black Monarch to block the passed pawn in order to to gobbled up by f6 Knight Fork!!!! SO BEAUTIFUL

It is impossible to go through all the variations as to why White is winning, but some of the ideas are White has two pawn islands to Black's three, White has 3-2 King Side pawn majority, Zugzwang(means German for every move loses),  a more active centralized King, and maybe even triangulation in some variations.

I would love to know if Doug Hyatt or Russian Speaking White guy GM Bryan Smith would consider this position, after the blunder, to be worthy of study?

Advanced Pawn Triples win in all Variations!!

As a weak USCF class player with a rating usually a little under 1500, one of my major weaknesses is being too materialistic. I go out of my way to win a pawn in the opening only to be slaughtered like a lamb by stronger players who see the pawn I won as a gambit pawn!!!

In the game above, Denmark player Superboy seemed to be well on his way to another crush of the weaker player. The skilled Danish player was up a piece and attacking my f8 Rook with his a3 Bishop. There is a spectacular move in the position that allows the second player to mobilize his blockaded pawn phalanx at f4,e3, and d4. Hint: The winning move also threatens to pin the White Queen to the White King!

Now, of course, I did not find the move over the board, but just imagine a tactical sequence that creates a PAWN TRIPLE. We all know about the potency of a pawn duo(couple), but how about at Fuckin pawn triple my chess loving friends??? Scroll down to see the winning conception figured out by StockFish.

Rf5!! putting the Rook en prise to the d3 Bishop. Capture allows for the winning mobilization of static pawn wedge!!!!!

Overdependence on Sodium Bicarbonate as it relates to Attacking Chess

I paused and reflected whether the former resident of North Pembrokeshire, Wales, United Kingdom would spit on the playing style of his online chess namesake Captain Evans.

United States player CaptEvans fianchettoed both his Prelates, placed both his Horses on the second rank, and made various overtures of unnecessary defensive maneuvering in the diagrammed position. The real Captain Evans was of Weaver Adams ilk. Adams, a San Francisco old era Master, published a book titled White to play and win with 1. e4. The openly homosexual Adams played aggressively making every effort to seize the initiative. The baking soda addict had no use for making Luft or waiting moves. This implies he was probably a top in the famous bathhouses near the Bay. It is consistent with the penetrating style of his play!

His much weaker successor makes only waiting moves hoping to pounce on an overstep in a style espoused by the famous Andy Soltis tome regarding the rewards of playing defense. Andy made a fantastic suggestion in his seminal work. He said the last line of defense is to MAKE YOUR OPPONENT WIN after you have exhausted all other remedies to save your losing/difficult position. I have saved many draw and actually won games with this tip alone!!!!

The big difference here is ICC CaptEvans plays defense from move one with white or black which would make the real Captain Evans turn in his grave.

Piece Sac creates unstoppable passed pawn

ICC handle Compassion, from Sweden, was not treated compassionately after attacking White's e5 Bishop with pawn move f6. Beginners at chess sometimes are slow to learn that pawns attack diagonally which is contrary to their vertical, non capturing, motion up and down the board.

A columnist in the Yasser Seirawan magazine wrote a marvelous article about zigzag pawn moves making captures on each move as a recurring tactical motif! The affable Syrian, who has lifetime winning record against Tal, is not nearly as active these days as the chess world would prefer.
Neophyte lovers of the Royal Game are sometimes programmed to automatically move an attacked piece, especially when a measly pawn is the offender. However, the move pawn to f6 also made Black's second rank fatally exposed. So how does White ignore the overt threat to his centralized Prelate?

The pawn advance to b6 is a game winner only because of aforementioned weakening, otherwise the Queen e5 Bishop d6 diagonal dominance would be an adequate defense!

Declining Second Staunton Gambit Pawn

Couldn't find much information regarding comfortable setups for Black against the Staunton Gambit on the blog of Gambiteer Ian Simpson's authoritative source for aggressive and attacking Gambit Play, so I decided to add this ICC seminal game on declining the  Staunton Gambit.

The move order chosen by Swedish player Johh was 1. d4 f5 2. e4 fxe4 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. Bg5 c6 5. f3 e3. Johh only sports a 1525 USCF rating, but he has beaten IMs who are foolish enough to play ef allowing a strong initiative with no chances of losing the game!

So Black played 5. ... e3! which slows down the first players development and makes the e3 Bishop a cumbersomely  placed BIG PAWN searching for a role! I will never forget Saved By Bell TV star Samuel "Screech" Powers(Dustin Diamond) who was a benefactor of the Royal Game and a nice guy who spoke at a tournament I played in many years ago. Screech loved the game and appreciated aspects of positional play!

From the diagrammed position, one can readily observe a piece configuration not pleasing to an attacking check mate the King player. Johh moved his f pawn twice to prevent the liberating pawn move e5. Again, note how awful the prelate on the e3 square is placed while White's development lags immensely!! Black played the freeing contest the center move  c5 and won easily in the ending phase of the game.

A well known chess adage espoused by legends like Benjamin, Shirov, D. and M. Gurevich is to accept gambit pawn and then give it back if initiative reaches fever pitch.

Marco Antonio Tavares,
MatoJelic, Rūdolfs Nukševičs,Lucas Wind,Avery Church,Antonio Innocente love the Dutch defense and don't want to abandon cuz of some inebriated player who is homicidal about his King Pawn!

J. Watson-Rule Independence

Chess player John Watson wrote a book that featured a section or chapter on Rule Independence a long time ago. I mean like how many times have you hear the phrase "If center pawns are locked up, then attack with a pawn storm on flanks or wings" OR open the game up with line opening pawn moves if you possess the bishop pair"  His book showed counterexamples to many of the pedantic overstated rules that have been passed down over the generations mentally handicapping some beginning players.

The following game played at ICC reminded me of something else the IM quoted in his book. A guy named Suba stated that Bad Bishops protect good pawns. One can see in the diagram that Black's Bishop at e6 is enveloped by the pawns on the g6,f5,d5,c6,b7 squares.

However, imagine that same entombed prelate on f5 threatening mate in one!! The move f4 , clearing the f5 square for the aforementioned threat, appears to  be refuted  by Bd3 where g6 is attacked by the Bishop and and g1 Rook. In the game Black played Rh1 desiring to exchange Rooks with Belgium player Azrael1978. This  is close to a horrible positional/tactical blunder. Rh2 is a better move, but Black must see how to respond to f3 attacking the Black Lady.

So Black has the initiative after Rook h2 even though his Bishop is manifestly bad patiently awaiting diagonal opening pawn moves. On a side note IM Watson endorsed the interesting view of Sarah Hurst which espouses the assertion that chess intelligence does necessarily positively correlate to IQ, practical intelligence or other forms of mental acumen. I knew of academically retarded guys in Houston who were expert chess players.  Her remarks on the matter sound almost angry to the point I would bet she has very LOUD multiple orgasms.

Lifelong Influence of a Beloved Chess Coach

Before I forget, this is a tribute to GM Yury Shulman or Yuri. Sorry chess coach, I don't recall correct spelling.

I had not thought of this excellent chess and LIFE coach in ages, but was reminded of him by the following position played at the Internet Chess Club.

A little background on how I remember this guy. My nephew Mark attended a college in Fort Worth or maybe Dallas Texas. The college had chess scholarships and while Mark did not earn a scholarship, he learned a lot about the Royal Game from the humble and patient GM who was employed there as a tutor I think. Been awhile so I could be wrong about the specifics. I never met Yuri, but feel like I know him well based on Mark's remarks. Shulman actually helped Mark in life much more than chess if you will tolerate that irony. My nephew was spoiled rotten and thought he was good in chess because he was good at tactics, but sucked pretty bad at long term strategy.
He would show Mr Shulman a game where he had beaten a fish(weak chess player) with piece sacrifices and unsound play. He could not understand why his coach/tutor would berate him, sometimes cursing emphatically that THIS WAS NOT THE WAY TO GET fuckin BETTER AT CHESS!!

Take a look at the above position to see why this reminds me of Dr Shulman. White(blitzen at ICC) has just played Be4 which allows a mate in 9 according to Komodo chess engine. It is based on White carelessly not noticing an elementary mate based on Ng3 and the Bishop owning the g1-a7 diagonal.

I am certain the esteemed teacher would have given Mark an earful about his inattention to this detail. I want the teacher to know that Mark is quite successful in another field these days and will never forget the good times at the University in the DFW area where a Dr Root also guided him!

Passivity

The germs of defeat are spawned in passive play. Part of that is plagiarized and part is mine. A character at ICC named KingZinski(Polish I think) loves bending over buttocks full exposed and playing pusillanimous double fianchetto systems.

In the position you see below black placed his horses at d7,e7. Did not place a pawn on the fourth rank even though White did not storm center with his pawns. The Modern and Pirc defenses are designed to punch back or counter strike against massive center and flank pawn surges by the first player.

At least Indian player AjitChandra knows his play is overly passive and wants to correct it. The book by Grandmaster Rafael Leitão is a meritorious resource on patiently punishing players who play afraid and unwilling to take chances. Rafael Leitão is a weaker GM since any honest strong player knows games cannot be won out of the opening. Rafael is just trying to sell his book to the ignorant USCF players rated below 1500.

Bogdan's textbook CRUSH OF Petrak Robert  is an example of passive play being a poor choice.

Jerome Knew Tactical Based Defenses

There was this old timer who said something like, paraphrased, "He who takes his opponent's Queen's Knight Pawn sleeps in the gutter" God Damned English descriptive SUCKS.

A dude named Rick Kennedy, who loves gambit play, told me about only fools grab b2,b7, g2,g7 pawns.

So aforementioned scenario happened in a game at ICC in the position you see below. JPF555 from Australia licked his chops for awhile pondering munching White's undefended b2 pawn after he exchanges Towers on the c file. I guess you callem Rooks or Castles in COVID overrun America. A lot of the rest of the world believe Corona originated in the United States.

As it turns out the b2 pawn is tactically defended to borrow the phrase from Larry Christiansen,  Artemiev ,Kenneth John McPherson,Patrick Daly,Cyrus Lakdawala, dude that maintains the path to chess mastery blog, Doctor Fianchetto(christopher.p.bak),Tanmay Srinath and Farmer Darren Walters.

See if you can envision why capturing the b2 pawn, after the c file clears, LOSES? A chess friend named E. Rios says to imagine possible mating patterns and figure out a way to get your attacking units to the right squares. A key to see this relatively easy mate in 3 is to observe the h6 escape square is surveilled by White's g5 pawn.
